Why does it matter to be considered vaccinated? How does it affect our lives in Korea? The simple answer is that the guidelines for vaccinated people is different from not-vaccinated. Mostly two things.
- The quarantine period varies. (When you have a close contact with a person who has covid)
- Where you can visit varies (vaccine pass)
Well, the difference will be explained on my later article, in this article let me focus more on “how to get vaccine”
Standard of the term vaccinated
Along with ones who didn’t get their vaccine, there is one category that can make you “unvaccinated”. Did it pass 180 days after you got a 2nd vaccine shot? If it passed, you are no longer considered vaccinated;(. In order to be “vaccinated”, you will need a booster shot. Wait, are you not registered in Korea? Don’t worry, even if you are not registered, you can still get a shot with the designated number. Wait are you 18 years or older? (me : opening eyes like club guard), it’s a pre-requirement for vaccination.
How to get a vaccine
There are two ways to get vaccine
1. Online
visit http://ncvr2.kdca.go.kr
register your vaccine by going into this website.
2. Telephone
dial 1339 (KDCA call center)
For the ones who are not registered, please bring your passport to local healthcare centre. How to find local healthcare center? Enter “보건소” on naver map or kakao map. Then you can see closest center near you.
Also, if you are visiting temporarily(ex, 90 days traveling visa), you can’t get vaccine.
Sidetip :
Do you have a good Korean friend?
Good for you! He/She can register for your vaccine reservation. One thing is that they need their cell phone number! Hope your friend has cell phone!!
When is it validated?
If you get a booster shot, it validates immediately(which means your vaccine pass would work immediately). If it is 2nd vaccine shot, it has to pass 14 days to be validated.
This pinch of pain can make your exploration of Korea safer and convenient.(you have to swab your nose every 48 hours to go to a restaurant if you don’t get vaccine pass🤦♀️) I hope everyone can get safe and sound trip in Korea!
