USIM/Phone plans in Korea- For short term travelers

Once the plane you’re on lands in Korea, you can see everyone holding their phone, reaching their arm in every angle trying to get Wi-Fi. Good news is, airport has a great WIFI service! Your phone will be automatically connected to internet. Yeah go ahead text back “I just landed!!😍”

I gotta admit, Korea has a wonderful internet speed. This gave me a high standard for internet service (Now 3 seconds for loading makes me roll my eyes🙄)

If you are traveling for few days, I recommend getting service in the airport. You can get it immediately after you arrive! There is a small booth for getting USIM at the airport(picture above). It’s not that pricy although it’s in the airport. As far as I remember, 3GB a day for week costs 20,000 won.  Isn’t it reasonable? There are two options. One is getting a prepaid SIM Card, the other is getting a DOSIRAK. What is Dosirak? It’s a small wifi device. You can share Wi-Fi with your family/friends. It can connect up to 5 devices. Here is table for dosirak fee.

I’ll put a link for dosirak down below! You can reserve through internet.

For prepaid SIM card, there are plenty of options. You can buy it in advance before arriving Korea, you can buy it in an airport, you can even buy them in an convenience store.  It’s up to you!

If you are in a group most of the time, I think Dosirak would be efficient. If you plan to move around by yourself, prepaid USIM can be a good option. Also, if you are heavy internet user, I recommend unlimited LTE supply. Yes it is actually a quite common option! Once you get your wifi/3G/LTE etc service, you can enjoy the speed of wonder. Enjoy!
